Tripwolf is a freemium app that provides travel guides on over 500 locations from around the world. In the free version, you only get snippets of some of the available sites, but its planner option still provides some use without having to reach out to your pocket.
The main interface makes it easy to pick your preferred location, though the locations cover only the most popular tourist trips. You can use the search of the tabs at the top of the screen to find places based on Countries, Regions, and Cities. Also, you can view any of downloaded guides in the “My Guides” section. Clicking on a Guide, you will open a preview which you can view offline. It won’t be 100%, though, unless you pay for the full version.
Each guide comes with a series of inviting options: Accommodation, Places to Eat, Attractions, Night Life, etc. However, due to the preview nature, lots of these are grayed out in the free version.
There are different ways to upgrade the app, depending on how many cities and features you want to unlock. The unlimited version costs $8,99, which a bit steep in our minds unless you go on lots of holidays; otherwise, it won’t worth it.
Also, you can choose a certain city to unlock, which costs $1,99 no matter what city it is — Barcelona, Venice, or New York.
Once you unlock a city, you get access to a scattering of sections such as Guided Tours or the Attractions section, which provides various options for what to do in your chosen city.
You’ll also be able to view the locations of the recommended places on the map, gain contact info, view their website and read customer reviews. Besides, you can add the place to the “I want to go” section and write a review by yourself.
Apart from all the standard options, you would expect from a travel guide app, Tripwolf offers an augmented reality feature. If you are using the app in this mode, you can look through your device’s camera and see nearby attractions highlighted.
The Bottom Line
Tripwolf is clearly laid out to make selecting a travel destination and viewing guide options a breeze. Although with the preview guide you have limitations, the app will give you a snippet of what is possible with the full guide.
There are multiple useful features in the full version of the app that will let you plan your trip easily and make the site seeing much more entertaining.
