Viber is a messenger launched in 2010 that is now a big player in the market along with such giants as Skype, Hangouts, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. It’s a cross-platform and easy-to-use app that will connect you with your friends within seconds.

In order to activate Viber, you need to have a cellular phone to use your number as a login. It will let the system search your phone book and add contacts to your Viber contact list. No matter what OS your friends and colleagues have, the app will add them without any problems.

After you enter your number, just wait for an activation code to be sent. Once you enter the 6-digit code, you are ready to go.

You can send an unlimited number of messages and calls between Viber users, no matter where they are. No roaming or any other additional charges.

All messages you send or receive are added to the general history so that you could access them on all the devices you have installed Viber onto before.

Viber also allows you to send different types of data like images, videos, links, locations, and contacts. The location can be opened in the navigation app installed on your device like Apple Maps, Google Maps, and others. A new contact sent to you via chat can be added straight to your phone book where you can edit it manually.

You can use the app as a Viber phone as well. It’s easy to send and receive voice messages and talk on the phone, and even make video calls. But you should note that the video may lag and be of poor quality with the slow Internet connection.

There are also public chats you can follow and receive the news on the topics you are interested in. You just subscribe to the channels and then get a notification every time the host of the channel posts something.

Of course, we can’t forget to mention stickers. They make your chats much more fun and emotional than simple emojis. Each of them is large and colorful, and speak louder than words. Some of them are paid, but there are enough free sets out there, and sometimes even the paid ones are proposed for no charge.

Another cool feature is built-in social games where you can invite your friends and share your results. Most of the games are lightweight and casual, and you can get them directly from within Viber.

The Bottom Line

Viber is a great messenger, which definitely deserves the spot on your device. It’s a neat app that lets you easily communicate with millions of Viber users using just a phone number to sign up.

Give Viber a whirl if you need an easy-to-use and functional tool to communicate with your friends and family.
